ING’s $400 Cashback Offer: What New Customers Must Do by 31 October 2026

•

ING’s $400 cashback offer sounds like easy money, but opening an account alone won’t earn the full amount. The promotion splits the bonus across October, November and December 2026, with a fresh funding requirement each month and card spending to track in the final two. Here’s the month-by-month checklist, who counts as a new customer, and the details worth checking before you switch.

ING’s $400 cashback offer: the three-month checklist

The official ING campaign runs from 12 October to 31 October 2026. Eligible new customers can earn up to $400 in three separate payments—not one instant signup bonus. To enter, open a new Orange Everyday and a new Savings Booster during the offer period, using promo code INGNEW400 for the Orange Everyday. ING says you can open both together, or open the Orange Everyday with the code and then apply for the Savings Booster during the promotion.

  • $200 for October: Open the required accounts with the promo code by 31 October, then deposit at least $1,000 into your Orange Everyday during the promotion. The money must come from an external source, such as your pay.
  • $100 for November: Between 1 and 30 November, deposit at least $1,000 from an external source into Orange Everyday and make at least five settled (not pending) card purchases using its debit card. ING’s terms list in-store, online, regular card payments, payWave, Apple Pay and Google Pay purchases.
  • $100 for December: Repeat those two steps between 1 and 31 December: another $1,000 external deposit and at least five settled card purchases.

That means $400 is the maximum, not an upfront payout. ING lists the $200, $100 and $100 as separate month-specific bonuses; qualifying in one month does not substitute for missing another month’s conditions.

Who is actually eligible?

“New customer” has a strict definition in the official terms and conditions: the offer is for people who have not held an ING account at any time since 1 July 2019. The terms exclude Living Super and ING insurance products from that test. A previously closed everyday or savings account can still make you ineligible if you held it during the relevant period.

The first $1,000 deposit needs to land by the end of October; the later deposits must be made in their own calendar months. ING describes the source as external, for example salary. Don’t assume moving money between your own ING accounts will count—check with the bank if your funding route is unusual. The November and December card purchases must be settled, not merely pending, by the last day of the month. Leave time for a weekend or delayed payment to clear, and don’t spend extra just to manufacture transactions.

The fine print behind the $400 headline

ING says each earned monthly bonus will be paid into your new Savings Booster within 60 days, though in some cases it may take longer. The Savings Booster must still be active and unrestricted when the money is paid. So the bonus is not cash in hand on signup day, and closing the account early could put a payment at risk.

The offer cannot be combined with another ING promotion unless the bank expressly allows it. ING also reserves the right to extend or withdraw the campaign, and its terms warn that cashback may have tax implications. Read the complete terms before applying, especially if you are already considering another ING offer or are unsure how the deposit condition applies to your circumstances.

Is the 6.25% savings rate part of the bonus?

No—the cash bonus and Savings Booster interest are separate. ING is also advertising up to 6.25% p.a. variable for four months on balances up to $500,000 for eligible new-to-savings customers. Its current rate page breaks that headline into a 0.60% Welcome rate, a 3.15% Boost rate and a 2.50% Base rate. The Boost component requires your balance to grow by at least $100 by month-end, excluding interest. After the four-month Welcome period, the advertised maximum falls to 5.65% p.a. if you meet the Boost condition. These are variable rates, not a fixed four-month guarantee; confirm the live Savings Booster rates and eligibility before deciding.

Don’t add the $400 headline to the 6.25% rate as if both were guaranteed returns. The bonus depends on the campaign’s monthly tasks; the interest rate can change and depends on separate balance-growth rules. ING says Orange Everyday has no monthly account-keeping fee, but check the current account terms and any charges relevant to how you bank.

Worth switching for?

The offer is most straightforward for someone who qualifies as new to ING, can route the required external deposits through the account, and would make five card purchases each month anyway. It is less compelling if eligibility is uncertain, you would need to spend unnecessarily, or moving your regular payments creates hassle that outweighs the staged bonus. Treat the headline as a maximum, not a reason to open an account before checking the rules.
